Ecotopia: An Ecological Framework for Change Management in Distributed Systems

چکیده
Dynamic change management in an autonomic, service-oriented infrastructure is likely to disrupt the critical services delivered by the infrastructure. Furthermore, change management must accommodate complex real-world systems, where dependability and performance objectives are managed across multiple distributed service components and have specific criticality/value models. In this paper, we present Ecotopia, a framework for change management in complex service-oriented architectures (SOA) that is ecological in its intent: it schedules change operations with the goal of minimizing the service-delivery disruptions by accounting for their impact on the SOA environment. The change-planning functionality of Ecotopia is split between multiple objective-advisors and a system-level change-orchestrator component. The objective advisors assess the change-impact on service delivery by estimating the expected values of the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), during and after change. The orchestrator uses the KPI estimations to assess the per-objective and overall business-value changes over a long timehorizon and to identify the scheduling plan that maximizes the overall business value. Ecotopia handles both external change requests, like software upgrades, and internal changes requests, like fault-recovery actions. We evaluate the Ecotopia framework using two realistic change-management scenarios in distributed enterprise systems.

Self-Starting Control Chart and Post Signal Diagnostics for Monitoring Project Earned Value Management Indices
Earned value management (EVM) is a well-known approach in a project control system which uses some indices to track schedule and cost performance of a project. In this paper, a new statistical framework based on self-starting monitoring and change point estimation is proposed to monitor correlated EVM indices which are usually auto-correlated over time and non-normally distributed. Also, a new ...
متن کاملA Novel Hybrid Droop-Isochronous Control Strategy for Microgrid Management
The droop control strategy is the most common approach for microgrids control but its application is limited due to frequency deviation following a load change. Complementary control strategy has then been proposed to solve the problem using a communication network. However, under this strategy, regular loads profile produces a continuous change of output power of all distributed generators (DG...

Background National community health worker (CHW) programmes are increasingly regarded as an integral component of primary healthcare (PHC) in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). At the interface of the formal health system and communities, CHW programmes evolve in context specific ways, with unique cadres and a variety of vertical and horizontal relationships. These programmes need...
